They are a great way of enhancing your personal look, style and individuality as well as being able to create thickness and volume for finer hair. Perms can also tame the thickest of hair into a more manageable style.
If you’re thinking of having a perm there are a few things to consider…
- A perming service can take considerable time, from one and a half to five hours or more depending on hair length and desired look.
- Specific rollers and perming lotions are used for different perm styles.
- A perm lasts on average around three to six months but will depend on hair type and style of perm you want. Longevity will also depend on how maintain your perm after leaving the salon.
- Aftercare is essential and using the correct products at home make a big difference to the health and elasticity of the perm. Without using recommended home hair care products your hair can become dry and frizzy.
- You will need to wait 48 hours after the perm service before washing your hair.
- Perm lotions contain chemicals that break down and reform the bonds within the hair. You should avoid having a perm if your hair is already dry, damaged or bleached.
